Florida Department of Agriculture Bills HB 1289/SB 1612

Commissioner Nikki Fried drafted the department of agriculture bills sponsored by Leon County legislators Representative Ramon Alexander and Senator Loranne Ausley.

The bills remove hemp derivatives, i.e., Synthesized Cannabinoids (Delta 8, Delta 10, etc.) from the definition of hemp extract. Even though the Federal Farm Bill and USDA rules include all hemp extracts and derivatives.

The Holistic Cannabis Community does not think shutting down an entire industry is the answer to synthesized cannabinoids. The economic downfall for retailers, manufacturers, extractors, and cultivators will be enormous if the State of Florida bans Delta 8, Delta 10, HHC, etc.

What the people really want is legal marijuana. We have over 800 hemp cultivators in the state waiting for the green light from Florida legislators to grow higher THC strains. We know many medical marijuana patients and marijuana consumers at times prefer synthesized cannabinoids because the hemp products provide a nice balance to conduct daily activities.

Contact your legislators at myfloridahouse.gov and floridasenate.gov to discuss the issue. Provide comment to this post and your comments will be shared with Senator Loranne Ausley today.
